Xinpeng Xu is Professor of Economics in the School of Accounting and Finance, Faculty of Business, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He is also Director of Faculty of Business – Belt and Road Centre, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and a Research Associate at the Australia-Japan Research Centre, Australian National University, Australia. His research expertise lies in the areas of International Economics, Chinese Economy, Growth and Productivity, as well as Institution and Foreign Direct Investment. He is the recipient of Hong Kong Research Grant Council’s competitive General Research Fund (GRF 2014/2015; 2016/2017). He is also the recipient of Faculty Prize for Outstanding Performance/Achievement in Teaching in 2014 (Faculty of Business). Professor Xu has many years’ experience in teaching at the level of MBA, EMBA, DBA and Doctor of Management in both Mainland China and Hong Kong. He has published papers in reputable international refereed journals such as Journal of International Money and Finance, Canadian Journal of Economics, Economic Inquiry, China Economic Review, Economica, Applied Economics, Economic Modeling, Journal of Asian Economics, Japanese Economics Review, Economics Letters, Review of World Economics, and World Development. He serves as Co-Editor of Journal of Chinese Economic and Business Studies and an Executive Committee member of the Hong Kong Economic Association. Professor Xu served as a consultant to international organizations such as OECD (Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development) and APEC (Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation). He is listed in Marquis Who’s Who in the World® 2016 (33rd Edition) that distinguishes him as one of the world’s leading contributors to his field. He graduated from Xiamen University, China with a B.A. and a M.A. in Economics and received his Ph.D. in Economics from the Australian National University, Australia.

Gordon Li, Deputy General Manager of Overseas Business / International Cooperation Department of China Merchants Group Limited, Ph.D. in Economics. He has served in China Merchants International as Deputy Chief Economist, General Manager of Overseas Business Department, General Manager of Investment Development Department. He has also been Head Chief Representative of China Merchants Group Limited in Djibouti, and General Manager of Djibouti Free Trade Zone.

He has been engaged in strategic research and investment development for a long time. He is familiar with the investment and management of ports, logistics and industrial parks. In recent years, he has focused on overseas business development, mainly engaged in the infrastructure investment and operation on the "Belt and Road".

A native of Yangon, Myanmar, Pun spent his formative years in China during the great Cultural Revolution and arrived in Hong Kong at the age of 21. He started out his career as a salesman at a Hong Kong-based real estate firm where he worked for ten years. In 1983, Pun went on to found Serge Pun & Associates Limited in Hong Kong and eventually returned to the country of his birth to establish SPA Myanmar in 1991.

In 1992, he founded one of the first public companies in Myanmar called First Myanmar Investment Co Ltd (FMI), which later became the first listed company on the new Yangon Stock Exchange on 25 March 2016. He led two other companies to successful listings on the Singapore Stock Exchange; Yoma Strategic Holdings on the mainboard in 2006 and Memories Group on the Catalist Board on 5 January 2018.

Today, Yoma Group has grown to become one of Myanmar’s leading corporations with 40 companies actively operating in seven business sectors: banking and financial services, real estate development, automotive, agriculture and logistics, luxury travel and tourism, consumer services and healthcare.

In 2018, he was appointed to be Vice Chairman and CEO of New Yangon Development Company Ltd (NYDC), a wholly owned entity of the Yangon Region Government responsible for the development of New Yangon City.

Pun is currently a member of the World Economic Forum ASEAN Regional Group and ASEAN Business Council, a standing member of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference of Dalian, and a member of the Asia Business Council. Additionally, he served as an Honorary Business Representative of the International Enterprise Singapore for Myanmar from 2004 till 2006. He is also the chair of Singapore Management University International Board of Advisors for Myanmar.

He is frequently invited to be a speaker in international forums on Myanmar and ASEAN. In 2014, Pun was awarded the special honor of being selected as one of the 65 outstanding Overseas Chinese Model worldwide to feature on a series of commemorative postage stamp celebrating the 65th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China.

Pun now resides in Yangon with his wife and four sons.

潘繼澤是緬甸華人,在仰光出生。「文化大革命」期間,他在中國渡過了自己的少年時期。潘先生 21 歲來到香港,開展了他在地產銷售行業的 10 年職業生涯。 1983 年,潘先生在香港創立了恆澤集團(Serge Pun & Associates Limited)。直至 1991 年,潘先生回到緬甸創立恆澤(緬甸)集團。 

1992 年,潘先生成立了緬甸首間公開招股公司 — 緬甸第一投資有限公司(FMI),並於2016 年 3 月 25 日在緬甸上市,成為「仰光證券交易所」第一家上市公司。此外,潘先生還帶領旗下兩間公司 — 祐瑪戰略控股(Yoma Strategic Holdings)及 Memories Group,先後於 2006 年在「新加坡證券交易所」主板及 2018 年在「凱利板」上市。

時至今日,祐瑪集團已發展成為緬甸領先的公司之一,旗下擁有 40 家企業,活躍於七個行業領域,包括:銀行和金融服務、房地產開發、汽車、農業和物流、豪華旅行和觀光、消費服務及醫療保健。 

2018 年,潘先生被任命為新仰光發展有限公司(NYDC)副主席兼首席執行官,該公司是由仰光省政府全資擁有,主要負責新仰光市的發展。 

潘先生目前是世界經濟論壇東盟地區和東盟商業理事會的成員、大連政協常委和亞洲商業理事會成員。潘先生在 2004 年至 2006 年間,獲新加坡國際企業發展局委任為駐緬甸名譽商務代表。潘先生也是新加坡管理大學緬甸國際顧問委員會主席。 

潘先生經常被邀請出席在緬甸和東盟舉辦的國際論壇,並擔任演講嘉賓。於 2014 年,潘先生的肖像獲列入《中國夢 — 共和國建國 65 周年、海內外 65 位華人傑出楷模》大型肖像的郵票紀念冊內。

Dr. Qu Jian’s main research areas include planning of domestic and foreign special economic zones, technological innovation and planning of high-tech industries, industrial transformation and upgrading. In recent years, as the head of the Chinese expert delegation, he and his team provide support to the planning and development for special economic zones and industrial parks of more than 10 Asian and African countries, including Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Ethiopia, Kenya, Congo (Brazzaville), Côte d’Ivoire, etc.

The national and local research projects of Dr. Qu Jian and his team include the National Twelfth Five-Year Development Plan for National Economic and Technological Development Zones and Border Economic Cooperation Zones, the National Innovative Urban Construction Plan, the Strategic Study of China’s Processing Trade Transformation and Upgrading, Research on the Development Model of China’s Development Zones and Customs Special Supervision Zones, China’s Yellow River Delta Efficient Ecological Economic Development Plan, New Features, New Trends and Measures of Multinational Corporations’ Investment in China, Research on Strategy of China’s Processing Trade Transformation and Upgrade, etc. Besides, Dr. Qu and his team provide study on the development strategy and planning of special economic zones and industrial parks in many countries.

He has published more than 100 academic papers, with publications including Research on the Transformation and Upgrading of Guangdong Processing Trade , Research on the Development Strategy of Modern Service Industry, Research on the Relationship between Foreign Direct Investment and Economic Growth Mode Transformation, Investment Environment in the Pearl River Delta, Investment Environment in the Yangtze River Delta and other books.
