School of Hotel and Tourism Management (SHTM), Hong Kong Polytechnic University has developed this Basic Essentials in Barista course for people who enjoy good coffee and want to learn the skills without the pressure of exams and practical assessments. It is just for the enjoyment of learning!!

KEY CONCEPTS EXPLORED:

With access to the best tools, coffees, and industry educator, this course will give you the technical skills required to operate a commercial espresso machine and produce espresso and espresso-based beverages.

EXPECTED OUTCOME:

You will learn from passionate, experienced tutors in a well-equipped teaching and learning environment where you will gain coffee knowledge and became familiar with the espresso extraction process, steaming milk and milk pouring like an expert.

The course is delivered through a combination of hands-on practical and related theory:
- Learning alongside the best in the industry using professional equipment offering an enjoyable variety of coffees
- Beginner coursework in espresso, milk preparation, and brewing techniques
- Basic coffee startup with experience sharing

- Introduction to single origin and blended espresso(tasting)
- Steps to make good espresso and brewing technique
- Milk foaming technique
- Practice


18 Aug 2018 (SAT) 9:00am – 1:30pm Session 3

- Practice and revision
