The Health, Safety and Environment Office (HSEO) and Hong Kong Occupational Safety and Health Association (HKOSHA) will jointly organize a seminar on “From Safety Advisor to Safety Management Program Owner – Theory and Implementation” with details as follows:

Abstract:
As a dedicated member of the Occupational Safety and Health Council (OSHC), Mr. Y. K. Kam served as a founding consultant between 1989-94. During his tenure, Mr. Kam rendered invaluable assistance to OSHC in the development of safety and health management directives and approaches for workplaces, especially factories and industrial undertakings. In addition, he was keenly aware of the importance of application of safety management in the workplace. In 1994, he accepted the offer from the then Hong Kong Polytechnic as Head, Health and Safety to establish a health and safety office (renamed as Health, Safety and Environment Office in 2004). In the seminar, Mr. Kam will share with participants how he translates the theories into health and safety programmes/practices, and what precious lessons he has learned in his university career spanning more than two decades.

Registration:
Interested colleagues and students please reserve your seat via HSEO homepage online enrolment system on or before 21 Jun 2018 (Thu) at http://www.polyu.edu.hk/hseo/training-news/training-enrollment. PolyU members who wish to obtain an attendance certificate please write “Attendance certificate is needed” in the “Remarks” entry of the on-line enrolment form.  After the seminar, certificate will be issued to each participant who has attended the entire seminar.
 

This seminar is free of charge for PolyU staff and students.  Seats are limited and on a first-come-first-served basis.  Successful enrolment will be notified by email.

Remarks :
Prevention of influenza pandemic
To prevent the spread of influenza, any participant who has symptom(s) of flu, e.g. fever, cough and runny nose, is not recommended to attend the seminar.
 
Typhoon Signal No. 8 or Black Rainstorm Warning

  1. The seminar will be cancelled if Typhoon Signal No. 8 or Black Rainstorm Warning is hoisted/forecasted at 4:30 pm.
  2. The seminar will be dismissed immediately if Typhoon Signal No. 8 or higher warning signal is hoisted.
  3. If Black Rainstorm Warning is hoisted during the seminar, participants should stay in the venue until the end of the event and the condition is safe to leave.
