We encourage and give priority to cross-department and interdisciplinary research projects.
Initially, we plan to have a yearly quota of 100 new projects. We may slightly adjust this number if the response is very positive.
Please refer to the URIS Guides and Application on this website.
URIS is not credit-bearing.
The research project can be a precursor of FYP. However, this is not a credit-bearing subject and the research project should not contribute to the assessment of the FYP.
The members in an approved project should only be undergraduate students. However, supervisors may invite graduate students to guide the students in the process.
An approved project will be evaluated by the DRC. The two main criteria are quality of the completed project (such as achievement of the project outcomes) as well as learning experiences of the students.
A scholarship HK$10,000 for an individual project OR scholarship HK$7,000 for each member of a group project.
The details will be announced later. You may refer to the SAO's website https://www.polyu.edu.hk/sao/srss/hall/hall-admission/hall-application/.
Penultimate year students can still submit the application for admission to URIS. However, your application will only be considered if places are still available (i.e. priority will be given to Year 1 and 2 students) and/or the proposal has special merits. Also, the Undergraduate Research and Innovation Committee (URIC) will decide whether special approval will be given.
