Outstanding Research Postgraduate Alumni Award 2023

To recognise the achievement of research postgraduate (RPg) alumni and promote the excellence of research postgraduate education at PolyU, the Graduate School organises the PolyU Graduate School Outstanding Research Postgraduate Alumni Award annually.

 

Eligibility

The candidate must be a bona fide graduate who has successfully completed a full-time or part-time research postgraduate programme (PhD or MPhil) offered by PolyU (or its forerunner Hong Kong Polytechnic) which led to an academic award accredited by the respective Institution. Current serving staff of PolyU are eligible. Candidates of current year or previous recipients of any PolyU Department or Faculty Alumni Award can also be nominated.

The proposers can be PolyU graduates, Honorary Graduates, University Fellows, PolyU staff, current PolyU Council and Court members and current Advisory Committee members. There is no limit to the number of nominations to be submitted by each proposer. However, the proposer cannot be the candidate himself/ herself or a direct relative of the candidate.

 

Award Categories and Titles

There are two categories of awards: 1) Outstanding RPg Alumni Award; 2) Early Career stream which is designed to recognise those exemplary graduates who received a research postgraduate degree from PolyU within the past five years.

  • PolyU Graduate School Outstanding Research Postgraduate Alumni Award
  • PolyU Graduate School Outstanding Early Career Research Postgraduate Alumni Award

(Notes: The bestowal of an award is subject to the individual merits of candidates. No award shall be given out in a certain category if no suitable candidate is identified.)

 

Selection Criteria

A panel of judges, comprising both internal and external members, will be formed to examine the nominations and assess candidates’ qualifications and performance for the awards. The selection criteria include:

  • Accomplishments, reputation and commitment in the academia/ profession/ industry/ community
  • Leadership, innovation and impact
  • Recognition and awards
  • Support and contribution to PolyU

 

Submission of Nomination

Please fill in the online Nomination Form and upload the following materials to this Folder by 30 April 2023 (Sunday). Except for the portrait photo in JPG or PNG format, all supporting documents should be in PDF format.

  • A recent portrait photo of the candidate (in JPG or PNG format)
  • A copy of the candidate’s certificate(s) and award(s) (in PDF format)
  • Supplementary documents that indicate the candidate’s research achievements and impact, or accomplishments/ reputation in the profession/ industry/ entrepreneurship/ technology venture (in PDF format)
  • Supplementary documents that indicate the candidate's support and contribution to PolyU (in PDF format)
  • A curriculum vitae (CV) of the candidate (in PDF format)
