Campus polyfoam packaging material recycling

Rising concerns over the disposing of polyfoam packaging materials are evident on campus when offices and departments have computer equipment upgrade exercises or when they acquire new equipment.

The University is aware of the need to address this issue properly. It has been a supporting/participating partner to the Missing Link – Polyfoam Recycling Scheme (https://www.facebook.com/polyfoamrecyclinghk/) since 2017. The scheme runs activities on collecting polyfoam frequently and conducts environmental education on related issues. The campus community and the interested parties are most welcome to reach them for details of its service, and to seek advice on the types and quantities of materials that it collects. The polyfoam material collection exercise on campus can be arranged on a need basis subject to prior agreement. You are welcome to reach Campus Sustainability Office (CSO) on green.campus@polyu.edu.hk or the Facilities Management Office (FMO) on ext. 7777 for more information.

You may also find the locations and open hours of off-campus polyfoam collection points from Missing Link’s facebook page. On top of all, we should look for vendors and suppliers who are more mindful about having products with more recycled content and less packaging materials.
