PolyU experts deliver eco-friendly fibre

A group of researchers led by Prof. Tao Xiao-ming at the Institute of Textiles and Clothing, recently collaborated with a Chinese mainland fibre producer and research institute to develop a new eco-friendly fibre blend in order to meet the market needs for non-toxic and biodegradable polymers. With the blend’s anti-microbial and biocompatible properties, it is much more suitable for the production of bedding, upholstery textiles and medical applications including compression stockings, wound dressings, surgical gowns and masks.
