PolyU provides students with a host of exciting and engaging activities to help them explore
Hong Kong and understand the local culture during their leisure time. One recent event was
a visit to a dai pai dong. During the evening, the students were fully immersed in the vibrant
local food stall atmosphere and given the opportunity to indulge in typical dishes, order local
drinks using their newly learned Cantonese language skills and connect with old and new
friends. They tasted a variety of local delicacies and were able to appreciate the culinary
diversity of the city.

The visit to the dai pai dong was a unique cultural experience, and students were given a
chance to witness the bustling street food culture of Hong Kong, an experience blending
discovery, excitement and education, leaving everyone with a full belly and new knowledge
