More specifically, he is interested in: (1) exploring emerging physics such as ferroelectricity, ferroelasticity, and phase switching in novel 2D materials down to monolayer thickness (2) understanding reaction mechanisms for energy conversion/storage, through capturing reaction dynamics using in situ and ex situ characterisation techniques including liquid/gas TEM holders (3) developing ultralow-dose TEM techniques to unravel atomic structure information in beam sensitive materials including hybrid perovskites, polymers, MOFs, and battery materials (4) developing novel 4D-STEM techniques to reveal the intrinsic electric and magnetic fields in functional materials at nanometre or even atomic scale Representative Publications • Nat.
