We have prepared several electrode materials and optimised their performance through microstructure design ii) Designing robust electrode/electrolyte interfaces to improve the lifespan of emerging battery systems. We deviate from nanostructure-derived strategies and turn to regulate the solid electrolyte interphases (SEIs), enabling the stable cycling of commercially available microsized particles iii) Probing the nanostructure and mechanical properties of SEIs to correlate the structure/property relationships. We propose the “maximum elastic deformation energy” that the SEIs can absorb to predict the mechanical stability, which serves as a rapid and effective means to screen proper electrolytes Patent • PCT patent (PCT/EP2016/063775); PCT/EP2016/063770; US patent (10916771) Awards and Achievements • Faculty Award - Outstanding Young Researcher, 2021 • PhD Research Excellence Award, School of Engineering, HKUST, 2014
