The 2nd Writing Roundtable - Innovations in Developing Writers beyond the Language Classroom

The English Language Centre of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University will host the 2nd Writing Roundtable on 26 May 2014. The Writing Roundtablewill provide a platform to discuss Innovations in Developing Writers beyond the Language Classroom. Participants will be able to share insights into creative approaches to writing and the use of technology in writing. This event will bring together writers, writing teachers, and practitioners concerned with creative and critical literacy within and beyond the confines of formal education.

Strand (1) Creative approaches to writing

(a)  Integrating writing in the disciplines

(b)  Writing -across-the-curriculum

(c)  Critical literacy

Strand (2) Technology in writing

a)  Supporting writing through technology

b)  New technologies

c)  Publishing novice writers’ work

The Writing Roundtable
will be in the format of workshops or panel discussions on topics related to the two strands. You are invited to participate or moderate/facilitate a workshop or a panel discussion. If interested, you can submit on their website

  1. a topic  with a blurb of approximately 100 – 120 words  for a workshop OR
    a topic together with 3 to 5 questions for a panel discussion .

All sessions will be around 45 minutes to allow participants to share ideas or try writing activities in a workshop format. 

The deadline for sending proposals is 25 April and online registration closes on 12 May. Places are limited 80.
