Big data today is a trendy but controversial topic.  At the same time big data management raises several questions about privacy, consent and accountability that see all the actors involved – from digital giants to ordinary citizens – faced with new opportunities and dilemmas.  This seminar will use a linguistic and discursive approach to this topic using the framework of Corpus-Assisted Discourse Studies (CADS) and help identify the emergent rhetoric of big data and its impact on social imaginaries.
