2nd World Cities World Class (WC2) Symposium

Following the success of the inaugural World Cities World Class (WC2) Symposium in London last year, the second WC2 Summer Symposium was held in Technische Universität Berlin from 8 to 12 August 2016. The Symposium brought together a total of 140 academics and postgraduate students from top universities in major cities. Two PhD students from the Faculty of Humanities, Ms Esterina Nervino and Mr Daniel Recktenwald, together with Prof. Christian Matthiessen and Prof. Huang Chu-ren participated in the event. Each of them gave a presentation addressing the Symposium theme of “Universities as Urban Actors: Towards the New Urban Agenda”.

Aiming to address cultural, political and environmental issues of common interest to world cities and their universities, the WC2 network was established in September 2010 by City University London and currently has 11 member institutions from across the globe including PolyU. The WC2 Symposium provides a platform for academics and postgraduate students from across the WC2 network to share perspectives and build cross-university links for collaboration.
