Development of a machine learning based app/game for health and wellness

Smart living includes integrating technology into everyday life to make tasks more convenient, comfortable, and improve various aspects of human existence. In this workshop, we will introduce the basic concepts of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence (AI). We will also provide an overview of scratch programming and how machine learning and AI can be integrated into scratch-based applications. Each group will design and develop a scratch-based app/game, with integration of machine learning and posture recognition, related to the theme of smart living for enhancing a user’s physical and mental health.

Internet of Things (IoT) is everywhere! This project will show you how to implement an IoT system. You can use the IoT system to monitor the temperature, power consumption, remote control of your lighting, and fans at home. All these can be achieved by your mobile phone!

Robot Assistant for Smart Living

Students are required to build a small robot by using 3D printing materials and some electronic components. The robot will have the following features:
- It can scan a QR code in front.
- It can be remotely controlled by EMG signals.

Design a Virtual Reality Game for Eye Care Training of Children
設計兒童眼睛保健的虛擬實境遊戲
Myopia is one of the common problems around the world. Once myopia stouts in children, it typically progresses gradually to the adulthood years. Eye care training is believed to reduce myopia progression effectively. This project will develop a virtual reality (VR) game for children to practice eye care training in order to improve their eye muscles. Students are required to construct VR environments in a headset simulating eye care training. The project includes (1) identifying the type of eye care training to be provided, (2) designing a VR game for children, (3) constructing 3D models for the VR environment, (4) simulating the game for the children, and (5) presenting and demonstrating the idea.
近視一直是世界上許多人的一項健康問題。兒童時期一旦患有近視。通常會逐漸加深,成年後才逐漸減緩,而近年研究發現視力訓練可以有效地減少近視加深。此計畫希望為兒童開發一款虛擬實境(VR)的護眼遊戲,供兒童進行視力訓練,以鍛煉他們的眼部肌肉。學生須透過頭戴式裝置建立虛擬現實環境及進行遊戲式訓練。該項目包括(1)識別視力訓練理論及方法,(2)設計兒童視力訓練流程,(3)構建遊戲3D模型及虛擬環境,(4)模擬兒童視力訓練,以及(5)報告及演示。

Smart Robot Car Challenge

Smart living brings lots of convenience to our daily life. When a tiny robot can help to sweep your floor neatly and autonomously, you cannot wait for more similar products to emerge in the future. Do you really know the undertyling theories? In this project, you will have the chance to understand how a robot car can navigate inside a home and interact with the environment through the use of different sensors. By using a smartphone or a controller, you will be able to command the robot car to complete various tasks (e.g. object pick-place) in our daily life.
智能生活為我們日常生活帶來很多方便。當一個細小的機械人可自主地幫助你掃地,你已經迫不及待有更多類似的產品。你真的了解背後的理論嗎?在這個活動中,你將有機會了解機械車如何通過不同的傳感器在家裡自動導航及與環境互動。通過使用智能手機或控制器,你將能夠指令機械車完成我們日常生活中的各種任務(如物體拾取)。
