Students who have not decided on a particular major at the time of application submission can apply for the Broad Discipline of Construction and Environment. They can defer their decision on a major and transfer to their major-o­ffering departments with eff­ect from the First Semester of Year Two. The deadline for submitting the major selection form will be announced by the Faculty.

Academic Advising for BDCE Students

  • Each BDCE student will be assigned an Academic Advisor (AA) upon admission.
  • Responsibilities of an AA:
    1. Building rapport with students
    2. Being accessible, available and responsive
    3. Helping students clarify their intellectual, professional and personal goals
    4. Alerting students to academic regulations and requirements, particularly those pertinent to the Broad Discipline
    5. Guiding students to identify the majors (programmes) to study on the basis of their interests and develop appropriate study plans
    6. Early identification of students with special learning needs or early signs of learning problems and making necessary referrals
