Prof. Jin-guang Teng, Chair Professor of Structural Engineering and Director of the Research Institute for Sustainable Urban Development, has recently been honoured with election to membership of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). Membership of CAS is the highest academic title conferred by the Chinese government for achievements in scientific and technological research.

Since joining PolyU in 1994, Prof. Teng has made a lasting impact with his research on the structural use of fibre-reinforced polymer (FRP) composites in construction and thin-walled steel structures. He hopes to leverage Hong Kong’s advanced research to contribute to the Belt and Road initiative as well as the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
