Ceremony for The President’s Awards for Excellent Performance/ Achievement 2015/2016, Faculty/ School Awards of 2015/16 & 2014/15

A presentation ceremony for The President1s Awards for Excellent Performance/ Achievement 2015/2016 as well as the Faculty/ School Awards 2015/2016 and 2014/2015 was held on the evening of 12 May 2017 at the Hotel ICON.

Research Achievements/ Activities

  Global Innovation Award for BSE Academic

At the TechConnect World Conference and Expo 2017 held in Washington, D.C. recently in May, Dr Lin Lu of the Department of Building Services Engineering (BSE) was honoured with a Global Innovation Award for her multi-functional nano-coating for glass.


  HKIPM Project Management Achievement Awards 2016

Dr Daniel Chan, Associate Head (Teaching and Learning) and Associate Professor of the Department of Building and Real Estate (BRE), was honoured with a Project Management Achievement Award in the research category for his empirical study exploring the application of Pay for Safety Scheme in the construction industry of Hong Kong.


  FCE Research Salon

The 6th FCE research salon was held on 8 May 2017 with a focus on further development of the Research Centre for Urban Hazards Mitigation.

  Times Higher Education (THE) Innovation and Impact Summit

To empower universities’ economic and social impact through innovative research and teaching, the Times Higher Education (THE) Innovation and Impact Summit was organized to provide a platform for university and business leaders to explore this pressing issue.


  FUTURARC Forum 2017

At the FUTURARC Forum 2017 Hong Kong on 25 April 2017, Dr Lu Lin of the Department of Building Services Engineering (BSE) gave a public talk on green solutions for sustainable buildings.


  PolyU JUPAS Consultation Day 2017

On 20 May 2017, a Consultation Day was held for prospective students in the Joint University Programmes Admissions System (JUPAS) on the PolyU campus.


  New Programme Proposals Reviewed by Panel

On 22 May 2017, a panel comprising of officials from the Hong Kong Government and academe met to review and prioritize 4 new programmes for the Academic Development Proposal (ADP) exercise for the 2019-2022 triennium, one from each department of the Faculty of Construction and Environment (FCE).


  Visit by Southwest Jiaotong University (SWJTU)

A delegation from the School of Civil Engineering of Southwest Jiaotong University (SWJTU) visited the Faculty of Construction and Environment (FCE) from 24 to 26 May 2017.

FCE DISTINGUISHED LECTURE AND DISTINGUISHED CHAIR PROFESSOR INAUGURAL LECTURE SERIES

In celebration of the 80th Anniversary of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), the Faculty of Construction and Environment (FCE) has launched the FCE Distinguished Lecture and Distinguished Chair Professor Inaugural Lecture Series. A total of 10 lectures will be delivered in 2017 by distinguished scholars from different parts of the world and newly appointed Distinguished Chair Professors of PolyU.
