An innovation of building sustainable low-noise pavements with waste tyre rubber and warm mix additives has won a Silver Award in the 2018 Hong Kong Green Innovations Awards (HKGIA).

At the 10th China Satellite Navigation Conference in Beijing held from 22 to 25 May 2019, Dr George Liu of the Department of Land Surveying and Geo-Informatics (LSGI) was invited to serve as an editorial board member of a newly launched journal entitled Satellite Navigation, China’s first international journal in the field of global navigation satellite systems (GNSS).

In a collaboration with the Development Bureau of the Hong Kong Government and other institutions, PolyU has provided the technology for a Jockey Club Smart City Tree Management Project to monitor the stability of trees in the city.

From 17 to 21 June 2019, the CIB World Building Congress was held at PolyU, with a theme of constructing smart cities.

The first Eurasian Conference on the Open System for Earthquake Engineering Simulation (OpenSEES) was held at PolyU on 20 and 21 June 2019.

From 24 to 26 June 2019, the 2nd International Conference on Urban Informatics (ICUI) was held at PolyU.

From 12 to 15 June 2019, the 3rd International Conference on Bioresources, Energy, Environment, and Materials Technology was held at PolyU.

The 11th Asia-Pacific International Conference on Lightning was held at PolyU on 12 June 2019.

A forum for Hong Kong and Guangdong to collaborate on photovoltaic (PV) development was held on 31 May 2019 at PolyU.

The 2019 China Innovation and Entrepreneurship Fair was held in Guangzhou on 21 June.

To find out more about the opportunities for higher education at local and overseas universities, hundreds of secondary students and their parents gathered at the 25th Hong Kong International Education Expo at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 18 and 19 May 2019.
