In particular, with collaborators, we have proposed general modeling and analytical frameworks to describe the population growth with variable development duration driven due to abiotic factors, such as temperature variation. In particular, we studied two scenarios when the development duration is seasonal and continuous, or when the development is postponed due to harsh environmental conditions. With regard to the application side, we have studied the transmission dynamics of some emerging infectious diseases. For example, we have evaluated the contribution of sexual transmission on Zika incidence and estimated the basic reproduction number for the Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) with the preliminary data.
