Abstract

Modern clinical manifestation data has evidenced that most medical conditions are in urgent need to improve medical rehabilitation, such as cerebral palsy (CP), developmental disabilities, dementia, autism, stroke or people with acquired brain damages. Some of these diseases often company sleep issue and have a huge influence on the emotion of caregivers. In order to benefit from reducing functional impairments and improving life quality, many researchers examined the potential of using
advanced technology to promote rehabilitation purposed therapeutic methods.

For this purpose, In recent years, a number of researchers and firms have evidenced the IoT-based healthcare system for rehabilitation services can contribute to inpatient rehabilitation and after discharge services. The recent trend of using AI for medical imaging analyses provide valuable assistance to healthcare service. However, the research about AIoT healthcare field still in a very early step and how AIoT-enabled
system can help patients to continue with rehabilitation therapy after discharge is urgent for researchers to understand.

This proposal aims to:
1) To explore the challenges and needs faced by patients and caregivers when they work on daily rehabilitation at home
2) To investigate the factors that may affect patients or caretakers to use the technology-based approach, such as the awareness and acceptance
3) Comparative analysis of existing IoT and AIoT design methodologies, with the intent to open up a path for improvement and future development of the AIoT- supported solution
4) To design and validate an AIoT-enhanced education and training approach for assisting rehabilitation
