LI Zongpan

I got my bachelor of rehabilitation sciences degree from Xuzhou Medical University in mainland China in 2012. Then I started to work as a physical therapist in one of the biggest hospitals in Shanghai. After obtaining a few years of work experience, I decided to pursue my master’s degree in physical therapy. In 2015, I was fully funded by the hospital to study a Master of Physical Therapy (MPT) at Duquesne University in USA. I obtained my MPT in 2016 and started my PhD training at PolyU in 2017.

I chose PolyU for my PhD training because of its internationally competitive and professionally-oriented education as well as its long-established innovative research culture in the field of rehabilitation. I believe the training here will not only make me a qualified academic, but also impact on my whole life.

My research centres on understanding how muscle properties and gait biomechanics are related to disease development and progression, physical function decline, and pain as well as applying such knowledge to developing and evaluating novel prevention and interventional strategies in the setting of knee osteoarthritis.
