I studied for my bachelor’s degree in psychology at Hong Kong Baptist University, where I developed my interest in a deeper understanding of psychology and neuroscience, and also where I decided to start my career as a researcher. Then I chose to further my studies at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). PolyU is rising in global university rankings and provides not only advanced technical equipment and strong support networks, but also quality instruction by many professors and advisors, who have been guiding me throughout my study here.
My research topic is “Disordered cortical connectivity and working memory deficits underlie the social problems in children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD)” and I am under the supervision of Dr Yvonne Han, an expert in autism research. My research focuses on identifying the neuropsychological and cognitive differences in ASD that contribute to the social deficit in children with ASD. By identifying the areas and network altered in ASD, we would be able to pinpoint a specific region to stimulate the network and develop more effective treatments for these children in the future.
