Graduating from the BScOT programme of RS, PolyU, in 2017, I decided to pursue my PhD study after one year of work in Kowloon Hospital as I would like to contribute to the research and development of my profession. I have come back to RS because it is a friendly and supportive environment for learning and self-growth. My research is about the application of brain modulation techniques to children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Specifically, I would like to know whether transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) can improve social functioning in adolescents with ASD, and who may benefit more from this treatment than others. Given ASD is currently a prevalent, non-curable neurodevelopmental disorder that contributes significantly to global societal and economic burden, I hope my research could contribute to the development of more effective treatments for individuals with ASD.
