Captain LAU Sai Lung Michael

Professor of Practice, Department of Aeronautical and Aviation Engineering

Captain Michael Lau has a Honours Degree from the University of Edinburgh in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. In 1991, after 18 months of intensive cadet pilot training in Prestwick, Scotland, Michael joined Cathay Pacific Airways as a professional commercial pilot. He learned international flight operations in Cathay with high training standards. He is rated on aircraft types such as the Boeing B747 and Airbus A330.

Dr LIU Wei

Associate Professor, Presidential Young Scholar, Department of Aeronautical and Aviation Engineering

Dr Wei Liu is an Associate Professor at the Department of Aeronautical and Aviation Engineering, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Prior to this, he was a faculty member at UNSW Sydney in Australia and University of Glasgow in the UK, and was a Researcher at Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland.

Dr SHEN Xi

Assistant Professor, Department of Aeronautical and Aviation Engineering

Dr Shen received his PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2015. Before joining HKPolyU, he was a Research Assistant Professor at HKUST. Dr. Shen was also an Alexander von Humboldt research fellow at the Institute for Composite Materials (IVW GmbH) in Kaiserslautern, Germany, from 2017 to 2018.

Dr Pan Li received the B.E. degree in Electrical Engineering from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan, China, in June 2005, and the Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from University of Florida, Gainesville, Florida, in August 2009.

Dr Shan Jiang received his B.Sc. degree in computer science and technology from Sun Yat-sen University, Guangzhou, China, in 2015 and Ph.D. degree in computer science from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong, in 2021. He is currently a Research Assistant Professor in Department of Computing, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong.

Dr WEI Junqiu Victor

Dr Victor Junqiu Wei is currently a research assistant professor in the Department of Computing in The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He obtained his PhD degree from Department of Computer Science and Engineering, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, under supervision of Prof. Raymond Chi-Wing Wong.

Dr YANG Yu

Research Assistant Professor, Department of Computing

Dr Yang is currently a Research Assistant Professor with the Department of Computing at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). He received the B.Eng. degree in Computer Science from Xi’an University of Science and Technology in 2012, the M.Eng. degree in Pattern Recognition and Intelligence System from Shenzhen University in 2015, and the Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from PolyU in 2021.

Dr YU Le

Research Assistant Professor, Department of Computing

Dr Yu received his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He received both his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Information Security from Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications. Dr Yu is interested in mobile security and privacy with a particular focus on identifying security and privacy issues using static program analysis and natural language processing techniques.

Dr Ilhan received the PhD degree in Electrical Engineering in 2009 from École Polytechnique affiliated with Université de Montréal, Canada. He has 20 years of academic and industrial experience in different fields of electric power and energy systems gained in North America, Europe, and Asia.

Professor CHAU Lap Pui

Global STEM Scholar (under the Global STEM Professorship Scheme of HKSAR), Department of Electronic and Information Engineering

Professor Lap-Pui Chau received the Bachelor degree from Oxford Brookes University and the Ph.D. degree from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, in 1992 and 1997, respectively. He was with School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Nanyang Technological University from 1997 to 2022. He is currently a Professor in the Department of Electronic and Information Engineering, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

Dr LI Wenjuan

Research Assistant Professor, Department of Electronic and Information Engineering

Wenjuan Li received her Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from the City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong. She received both Research Tuition Scholarships and Outstanding Academic Performance Award during the doctorate studies. During 2017-2018, she had an exchange study at Technical University of Denmark, Denmark. Before, she was a Research Assistant in the CS Department, CityU HK.

Dr LIU Kuan received his BS degree in Materials Science and Engineering from University of Science and Technology Beijing in 2013, and PhD in Advanced Materials and Mechanics from Peking University in 2018. He worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow under the supervision of Prof. LI Gang in the Department of Electronic and Information Engineering, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University from 2019 to 2021.

Dr XIAO Yin

Dr Shuowen Zhang received the B.Eng. degree in information engineering from Chien-Shiung Wu Honors College, Southeast University, Nanjing, China, in June 2013, and the Ph.D. degree from NUS Graduate School for Integrative Sciences and Engineering, National University of Singapore, in January 2018 under the NGS scholarship.

Dr Cheng received his Ph.D. degree from the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Melbourne. He was appointed a Visiting Researcher in the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the University of California, Berkeley from 2017 to 2018, and a Postdoc in the Energy Systems Division of Argonne National Laboratory from 2019 to 2021.

Dr WU Maochun

Assistant Professor, Presidential Young Scholar, Department of Mechanical Engineering

Dr Wu received his BEng degree in Chemical Engineering and Technique from South China University of Technology in 2014. He obtained his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) in 2018 and then worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the same department. Prior to joining PolyU in 2021, he served as a Research Assistant Professor at the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at HKUST.

Dr ZHANG Xiao

Assistant Professor, Presidential Young Scholar, Department of Mechanical Engineering

Dr Xiao Zhang received his B. E. in Chemical Engineering and Technology, and M.E. in Applied Chemistry, from Harbin Engineering University in 2010 and 2012, respectively. He got his PhD degree from Nanyang Technological University (Singapore) in 2017, and continued his research in the same group as a Research Fellow for two years.
