The detailed procedures for different creative problem-solving techniques are introduced.

Intended educational value

The "Creative Techniques Web" is used for the purpose of content communication. To complete the games, students must read the contents thoroughly and, as a result, they can memorize the techniques in a funny way.  

Example of application

The game has already been uploaded to the WebCT sites of the subjects ISE389 and ISE554. The students can now play the game for learning creative problem-solving techniques through the internet. 

Evaluation/Comments

• Computer games provide an alternative medium for presenting the details of creative problem-solving techniques in an interesting format. 
• The quiz-type game developed for students to self-assess their understanding is a more effective way for them to learn the details than by reading printed materials. 
• As the games are all online, students have considerable freedom in choosing what they prefer to play/learn at any time, anywhere and as often as they wish. 
• As the students can experience different approaches in different computer games, they can plan their learning in a self-motivating manner. As a result, the learning of creative problem-solving techniques can be creatively enhanced by using the edutainment tools developed.

Remarks

A questionnaire is available in WebCT. Valuable student feedback on the games has been obtained and will be taken into consideration when developing new computer games in the future.
