: Case-based Learning in Strategic Management, International Business and Strategic Management of Technology and Innovation
Description
Ten cases have been developed on the areas of global management operations, strategic management of technology and entrepreneurship. A teaching guide to conducting case analyses in the class is provided to teachers for reference. Case information was collected through interviews with senior managers and/or managers from companies in Hong Kong and mainland China.
Intended educational value
These cases will provide useful teaching and discussion materials in class.
Example of application
The ten written cases were used to supplement class teaching in three different subjects: Entrepreneurship, Strategic Management and International Business and Strategic Management of Technology and Innovation.
Evaluation/Comments
From the students' feedback, it was found that teaching/learning was more effective when using cases relevant to local contexts and settings with which students are more familiar. When cases are used in class for discussion, interaction can be generated, which is more effective than allocating them to students for individual work.
