Mapping Eco-materials and Case Studies in PRD: Facilitating Sustainable Design Research at Undergraduate Subjects in School of Design

Objectives:
- To map out (visualize) the major types, sources and distributors of natural (e.g., rice stalks, bamboo) and synthetic (e.g., post-consumed, processed and industrialized) eco-materials in urban, suburban and rural Hong Kong and Peal River Delta (PRD).
- To document the general quantity, geographical specificty of the identified types, and most importantly their places of origin, production and/ or supply.
- To archive selective examples (cases) of application of the key regional eco-materials to illustrate its economic and environmental benefit for design students and professioinals.
- To develop and refine appropriate categorization of eco-materials for design application in Hong Kong and PRD region.
- To synthesize key outputs and findings of the research into a digital eco-materials handbook for local/ regional design students and professionials.
