PolyU has various policies and guidelines which outline the University’s sustainability and environmental objectives. They are reviewed and updated when necessary to ensure that they are practically applicable. They also establish goals in different areas of sustainable practices such as sustainability, energy and greenhouse gas, green procurement, sustainable infrastructure, waste management, water conservation, paper reduction, green promotion and campus activities. They provide a clear commitment to comply with compliance procedures and corresponding actions, and constantly promote the integration of sustainability principles into all aspects of operations.

GreenMap@PolyU

GreenMap@PolyU is a web-based platform that presents a pool of green features on the university campuses and their geographical locations. With the built-in filtering function, users can read about where to locate green facilities such as drinking water stations, UniRe® and other PolyU’s unique green features such as Eco-Block (3rd generation) as well as spots of greenery on computer or mobile devices based on the desired search criteria. Routes to make a good visit on campus’s major green establishments and laboratories are also suggested. Building-specific information and description of each facility can be seen to facilitate extended reading.

TreeMap@PolyU

TreeMap@PolyU is PolyU’s first interactive web-based platform designed by the Campus Sustainability Office with the support from Facilities Management Office to educate and connect the university community and the public with nature through appreciating the greenery on campus. It embeds a unique tree list and a user-friendly mapping capability that allows users to locate different tree species on campus quickly. Pictures and information on each tree species such as their unique features are provided. The TreeMap@PolyU is also coupled with physical tree tags which users can scan the QR codes on the tags to read all the tree information via their mobile devices.

Fauna@PolyU

Fauna@PolyU is a convenient web-based platform that introduces to all visitors the wide variety of fauna species on campus. It helps users find nature, enjoy sightings and identify species amid the campus landscape easily with a few clicks. It contains information about the features of the species and some real images of them. The most interesting part is about the birds – the description of each of the birds is followed by a clickable link to a recording of a frequently heard call of the bird.

ResourcesSharing@PolyU

ResourcesSharing@PolyU is the University’s first online platform that is built to facilitate the sharing of resources and exchange of event leftover materials. Designed and administered by the Campus Sustainability Office, this platform welcomes current PolyU students and staff across all disciplines and allows their posting of information at no cost. It is the networking hub for those who support reusing and recycling, and it serves to promote the concept of sustainable use of resources to the campus community.

EVCharging@PolyU

The University offers support for campus users of electric vehicles (EV) who need charging services. Four designated parking spaces on the G/F of the carpark are now equipped with semi-quick AC charger (32A 3-phase output) for utilization by registered users on campus. To add more convenience to such provision and for the comfort of users, a dedicated web-based platform named 'EVCharging@PolyU' has been in operation that allows users to check the availability of the chargers. Users can access this online tool effortlessly via their computers or mobile devices, and there are easy-to-read icons to show the availability of the chargers which is updated in a 1-minute interval.
