A series of events held on 25 November last year marked the beginning of the year-long celebrations.

Anniversary Launch Ceremony

A launch ceremony held in the evening was graced by the presence of Mrs Carrie Lam, former Chief Secretary for Administration, and Mr Carlson Tong, University Grants Committee Chairman, together with 800 guests.

A video themed “Our Pride • Our Vision • An Exciting Future” recapped PolyU’s remarkable accomplishments at home and abroad. “A Prelude to the Celebrations” then followed, with a stirring performance by the PolyU Orchestra and the premiere of the 80th anniversary theme song “Shape the Future” by C AllStar and the PolyU Choir. Students from four University Alliance of the Silk Road (UASR) institutions also added colour to the occasion with cultural performances.
