In recognition of their distinguished accomplishments and contributions, PolyU bestowed honorary doctorates on the following five prominent figures and doctoral degrees on 274 graduates at its 22nd Congregation held on 12 November 2016, presided over by Council Chairman Mr Chan Tze-ching and President Prof. Timothy W. Tong.

At the Congregation, the University conferred 10,827 academic honours, including 208 Doctor of Philosophy degrees, 66 discipline-based doctoral degrees, 44 Master of Philosophy degrees, 3,853 Master’s degrees, 5,683 Bachelor’s degrees, 50 postgraduate diplomas and certificates, and 918 subdegree awards.
Reiterating the University’s commitment to “Opening Minds‧Shaping the Future”, President Tong urged graduates to bear in mind the goals of education at PolyU as they embarked on the next chapters of their lives. Apart from making use of their professional knowledge to develop successful careers, “they should make many positive and constructive contributions to society,” he said.
