PolyU recently staged the fifth PolyU Innovation and Entrepreneurship Global Student Challenge which had attracted over 250 submissions from around the world. Forty shortlisted teams consisting of 150 contestants from 22 countries and regions travelled to Hong Kong for the semi-final and final competitions. The competing business proposals covered topics including environment protection, social service and commercial service, personal health and fighting poverty.

The Gold Award of the University Division went to a team from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh, with its winning proposal to introduce an affordable water filter made of upcycled materials like corn cobs and rice husk to address the water contamination problem in Bangladesh.

In the Secondary School Division, a team from the Shanghai American School – Puxi and American International School of Guangzhou snatched the Gold Award. The team proposed to create an online platform to enable middle school students to view educational videos outside their school curricula. Details>>
