New recycling bin set, named UniRe®, designed by the Public Design Lab of the School of Design are introduced on PolyU campus. The recycling bins come in four colours, with specially designed lid openings of different shapes for litter, paper, plastic and metal recyclables. Braille characters are embedded on the lids for the needs of the visually impaired.

To encourage the University community to take part in recycling activities, a graphic design competition was held inviting creative exterior designs of recycling bins. The award-winning designs were showcased at the UniRe® Graphic Design Exhibition and will be put on the 80 sets of UniRe® on campus, giving them smart new outlook.
