PolyU newly launched the University Research Facility in 3D Printing (U3DP) to support teaching, learning, research and innovation. The 620 square metres facility is equipped with more than 50 sets of 3D printers. It is not only the first 3D printing facility among local tertiary institutions, but also the largest 3D printing research centre in Hong Kong in terms of the range and quality of facilities.

With state-of-the-art 3D printing technologies ranging from 3D scanning and computer aided-design modelling to printing, the U3DP serves as an inspirational environment for faculty members and students, enabling them to materialise their innovative designs and prototypes.

As a pioneer in developing 3D printing technology on healthcare, PolyU has partnered with the Queen Elizabeth Hospital to develop a Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation Simulation Model. Mimicking the real clinical procedure, this 3D printed simulation training model supports the training of medical staff in enhancing the quality of healthcare service. Details>>
