Dr Ajay Kumar, Associate Professor at the Department of Computing, was elected Fellow of the International Association for Pattern Recognition (IAPR) for his outstanding contributions and achievements in the field of biometrics-based human identification, particularly the advancement of 2D, 3D and multispectral hand biometrics matching algorithms.

Introduced in 1994, the IAPR Fellow Award is limited to no more than 0.25 percent of the total IAPR membership and is biennially conferred on distinguished fellows.
