Recently, graduates and students of the Institute of Textiles and Clothing (ITC) scooped awards at leading local fashion design contests.

In the Hong Kong Young Fashion Designers’ Contest, eight out of 17 finalists were ITC graduates. Among them, Kenneth Cheung and Lee Tak-shing were named champion and first runner-up respectively, with their unique design styles.

Earlier on, PolyU students and graduates won six awards at the sixth Hong Kong Young Knitwear Designers’ Contest. The Champion in Emerging Designers’ Group went to Jonathan Yip (collection titled “Get your map citizen!”). The top three prizes of the Graduates Group went to Kenneth Yeung (champion - collection titled “Dormant Scars”); Christy Lee (first-runner-up); and Zepar Siu (second-runner-up). In addition, Kenneth won the Shima Seiki’s Award and Zepar won the Cocktail Select Shop’s Best Designer Award.

Good news was also received from fresh graduate Karie Fung Kit-wa who was awarded the Hong Kong Scholarship for Excellence 2016/17 granted by the Hong Kong government. She will be sponsored to pursue master’s degree at the University of the Arts London in the coming year.
