The Congregation is the occasion for the formal conferment of academic awards to students who have successfully completed either their study programmes or research studies at the PolyU. The Eighth Congregation will be held at the Hong Kong Coliseum on 27 November 2002, and around 7,000 graduates are expected to be presented for awards. Honorary Degrees will also be conferred on distinguished persons in honour of their achievements and contributions in relevant fields. A Reception will be held on the University campus after the Congregation, and this will provide an occasion of reunion and celebration for all current year graduates, their teachers and outside guests.

一年一度之畢業典禮，乃本校頒授學術資格予完成課程或專題研究學生之盛典，並為整個學年的教學工作劃上句號。第八屆畢業典禮將於二零零二年十一月二十七日假香港體育館舉行，預料畢業生人數約七千人。典禮中亦將頒授榮譽博士學位給一些傑出人士。典禮後，於校園內設有酒會，讓各榮譽博士學位領受人及來賓歡聚一堂。亦讓各畢業同學，師生聚舊，歡度慶典 。
