Biography

Ir Victor W H Wu was appointed to be Senior Research Fellow of the Chinese National Engineering Research Centre for Steel Construction (Hong Kong Branch) in June 2017. Ir Wu is a Chartered Engineer of Software Engineering since 1990 and a Chartered Engineer of Electronic Engineering since 1994. He served as a Professional Review Panelist for the British Computer Society (BCS) in 1992/93 in London, UK and 1993 to 1995 in Hong Kong. Served the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic & Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ) since 2000 in accreditation of Higher Diploma Programmes till 2012. He was also the representative of the Software discipline in the Education & Examination committee of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) from 1995 to 1997. Ir Wu was an Engineering Trainee in China Light & Power after obtained his Higher Diploma in Electronic Engineering from Hong Kong Polytechnic in 1975. Worked in Standard Telephones & Cables in London on the Digital Telephone Exchange - System X. Researched on Multi-microprocessors Power System Simulation in the Electrical Engineering Department of Imperial College London, Fifth Generation Computers and Functional Programming Languages in the Computing Department. He was then a Lecturer in the Computing Department of King’s College London. After he came back to Hong Kong, he was a Senior Lecturer in the Computing and Mathematics Department of the Technical College (Tsing Yi) of VTC. In the last 20 years, Ir Wu has been General Manger for various advanced manufacturing companies in Foshan, Dongguan and Shenzhen of Guangdong in PRC. He has also been managing a dyeing factory in Jiangmen, a software house and an energy conservation lighting company in Hong Kong. Currently, Ir Wu is interested in welding technology especially automatic welding, and its effects on mechanical properties of the heat affected zones in welded connections.Ir Wu was elected as a Member of The Welding Institute (UK) since 2018.
