Dr. Junbo CHEN joined the CNERC in 2016 as a PhD student. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree from Huazhong University of Science and Technology in June 2015, and a PhD degree in civil engineering from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2020. His research interests include the design of high strength tubular structures, structural behaviour of composite structures using high strength materials, especially for concrete-filled steel tubular structures, like static and cyclic behaviours of high strength concrete filled steel tubular structures etc.

Establishment of the Chinese National Engineering Research Centre for Steel Construction (Hong Kong Branch) at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) was approved by the State Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), People’s Republic of China on 12th October 2015.
