Fundamental studies of ‘new’ nitrogen chemistry

Reactive nitrogen compounds play important roles in atmospheric chemistry and biogeochemical cycle. They impact air quality including NO2 pollution at roadside and urban center and ozone and haze on a regional scale. In the past decades, research has revealed key knowledge gaps sources/processes of nitrous acid (HONO) and uptake of dinitrogen peroxide (N2O5) and their impact on the atmospheric oxidative capacity and production of secondary pollutants. Since 2010, our team has systemically studied sources/processes and impact of these compounds using integrative approaches.
