2018 Hong Kong Green Innovations Award
Dr Zhen LENG, Associate Professor of CEE and his team’s key members, Prof. Shun-cheng LEE, Professor of CEE, Dr Wing-yat HUNG, retired Associate Professor of CEE, Dr Lam-wah CHEUNG, retired Laboratory Manager of CEE and Dr Huayang YU, Dr LENG’s former PhD student were awarded the Silver Award in the 2018 Hong Kong Green Innovations Awards (HKGIA).
Developed by researchers in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE), an innovation of building sustainable low-noise pavements with waste tyre rubber and warm mix additives provides multiple environmental benefits, including recycling waste tyres, reducing energy consumption and emissions during construction as well as reducing the noise level from a tyre-road by as much as 3 decibels.
