Ms. Christy Wong, Clinical Associate


Ms. Christy Wong is currently Clinical Associate of the Speech Therapy Unit in the Department of Chinese and Bilingual Studies of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She was awarded a Bachelor of Science in Speech and Hearing Sciences with First Class Honours from the University of Hong Kong and qualified as a speech therapist. She later received her Master of Science in Clinical Gerontology from the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Ms. Wong commenced her professional speech therapy practice at non-governmental organization, serving children with communication disorders. After that, she joined the Hospital Authority, offering communication and swallowing assessment and training for clients suffering from stroke, Parkinson’s disease, dementia and other neurogenic disorders for in-patients and out-patients at Tuen Mun Hospital and old age homes. Ms. Wong focuses on clinical speech therapy education in recent years, supervising student speech therapists’ clinical practicum. She also provides consultation to assist speech therapy service development in non-governmental organizations.

Ms. Wong is a Full Member of the Hong Kong Association of Speech Therapists. She is also a certified provider of Deep Pharyngeal Neuromuscular Stimulation, VitalStim Therapy, Myofascial Release and Other Manual Techniques in Dysphagia Management, Ampcare’s Effective Swallowing Protocol, LSVT Therapy, LMRVT Therapy, Estill Voice Training (Level 1 & 2), Beckman Oral Motor Assessment and Intervention as well as TalkTools (Level 1 & 2).

Ms. Wong is fluent in Cantonese and English.
