Ms. Tang Po Yi, Tempo
Ms. Tempo Tang is currently Clinical Associate of the Speech Therapy Unit in the Department of Chinese and Bilingual Studies of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Speech and Hearing Sciences degree from the University of Hong Kong and qualified as a speech therapist. She later received her Master of Social Sciences in Psychology of Education from the City University of Hong Kong.
Ms. Tang had extensive experience in providing speech therapy to children with a wide range of communication disorders. She had practised at non-governmental organization as well as mainstream and special schools. Ms. Tang has been actively involved in the training of rehabilitation practitioners in mainland China in recent years. She conducts seminars and workshops for professionals and parents. She also provides consultation to organizations across China to assist their speech therapy service development and benchmark against best practices. She had published scientific articles and training materials on autism, oromotor therapy and communication disorders.
Ms. Tang currently focuses on clinical speech therapy education, supervising student speech therapists’ clinical practicum. Her recent clinical and research focus is on language development and language disorders associated with autistic spectrum disorders, as well as treatment strategies in Chinese dyslexia.
Ms. Tang is a certified provider of Picture Exchange Communication System and Beckman Oral Motor Assessment and Intervention.
Ms Tang is fluent in Cantonese, Mandarin and English.
