Dr. Anna Lee, Clinical Associate

Dr. Anna Lee is currently Clinical Associate of the Speech Therapy Unit in the Department of Chinese and Bilingual Studies of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Speech and Hearing Sciences from The University of Hong Kong and qualified as a speech therapist. She later obtained a scholarship from the University of Liverpool of the United Kingdom to pursue her doctoral study. She was awarded PhD in cognitive psychology, with her study focusing on cross-linguistic comparison of phonological and orthographic processing in reading and writing Chinese in China, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
Dr. Lee has extensive clinical, teaching and research experience. She began her clinical career at the Child Assessment Service of the Department of Health, and had later engaged in private practice where she dealt with Cantonese- and English-speaking pre-school, mainstream primary and secondary school students as well as adults with speech, language, and literacy difficulties. During her time with the University of Hong Kong and the Education Bureau, she was involved in various research projects, including child language corpus, aphasia treatment studies and developmental dyslexia research.
Dr. Lee is an experienced educator in problem-based learning (PBL) and she had served as PBL tutor at The University of Hong Kong prior to joining PolyU. She is known for her expertise in child language development and disorders, teaching English to SEN students, and coping strategies for students with speech and language disorders in school. She had also been invited by various organizations to deliver lectures on her areas of expertise, such as the Hong Kong Baptist University, The Education University of Hong Kong and The Hong Kong Association of Speech Therapists.
Dr. Lee currently focuses on clinical speech therapy education, coordinating the PBL curriculum and supervising student speech therapists’ clinical practicum. Her recent clinical and research focus is on assessment and treatment in adolescents and adults with language disorders, as well as treatment strategies in Chinese and English dyslexia.
Dr. Lee is a Full Member of The Hong Kong Association of Speech Therapists.
Dr. Lee is fluent in Cantonese and English. |
