2017.10.10PolyU Faculty of Business honours Eight Outstanding Alumni

The Faculty of Business (FB) of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) presented its inaugural outstanding alumni awards to eight graduates at its grand Homecoming Day on 7 October 2017. This is the first PolyU FB reunion for alumni of different programmes and different cohorts that have graduated over the past four decades. Since providing accounting, business and management education in 1972, FB has sent forth nearly 45,000 graduates to serve Hong Kong and beyond in diverse industries and across different sectors.

FB newly launched the Outstanding Alumni Award and Outstanding Young Alumni Award this year to recognize the graduates that excel in professional achievements, as well as contributions to society and their alma mater. To be presented triennially, the FB Outstanding Alumni Award is for graduates aged 40 or above, while the other category is for graduates aged below 40.

This year's eight recipients were presented with the awards at the grand reunion dinner attended by over 250 alumni. The awardees are (in alphabetical order of their last names):

Ir Prof. Edwin Cheng, Dean of PolyU FB and Fung Yiu King – Wing Hang Bank Professor in Business Administration, said "Our graduates have been applying their professional knowledge and skills to serve a wide spectrum of the business, professional and wider community. The Awards established by the Faculty are to pay tribute to their outstanding achievements and contributions to society and their alma mater. Looking forward, the Faculty will further strengthen our connection with our alumni, and engage them in our future development and student development initiatives."

The nine-member Panel of Judges for this year's Awards is chaired by Ir Prof. Edwin Cheng.  The other members are:

-        Prof. Agnes Cheng, Head of School of Accounting and Finance;

-        Prof. Gerald Gorn, Associate Dean (Research and Postgraduate Studies), FB;

-        Dr Pamsy Hui, Associate Dean (External Relations and Development), FB;

-        Dr Man-kwong Leung, Associate Dean (Academic Support), FB;

-        Prof. Jason Shaw, Head of Department of Management and Marketing;

-        Mr Alex Wong, President of Federation of PolyU Alumni Associations;

-        Prof. Andy Yeung, Head of Department of Logistics and Maritime Studies; and

-        Dr Royce Yuen, President of Outstanding PolyU Alumni Association.
