Subject: Arrangements for Learning, Teaching and Assessment (LTA) for Semester One, 2022/23
In view of the recent stabilization of the epidemic situation in Hong Kong, the University, with the support of the Vaccine Pass arrangements, has decided to return to normal learning and teaching activities in Semester One, 2022/23.
(A) Learning, Teaching and Assessment (LTA) Arrangements
1. Full resumption of face-to-face (f2f) learning and teaching activities
General learning and teaching activities
The University will resume face-to-face (f2f) learning and teaching activities in Semester One. Students shall return to campus to attend all general learning and teaching activities, e.g. lectures, tutorials, etc., face-to-face. All lectures, seminars and tutorials will be video-taped and uploaded to the Learning Management System (LMS) for students' reference and revision.
Departments may make their own arrangements, e.g. the mode of delivery can be in person or hybrid, for Taught Postgraduate programmes.
Essential learning and teaching activities
Essential learning and teaching activities, such as practicums, clinical skills training, laboratory and studio sessions as deemed mandatory by Faculties/Departments in achieving the intended learning outcomes, will continue to be conducted f2f on campus.
Students who are outside Hong Kong
If you are currently outside Hong Kong or plan to travel outside Hong Kong, you are advised to come back to Hong Kong before the start of Semester One to continue with your studies. For those who have genuine difficulties returning to Hong Kong due to travel restrictions (e.g. lockdown in your hometown), please consult your programme host Departments.
When you plan your trip back, please make advance arrangements to meet the HKSAR Government's boarding and quarantine requirements (e.g. travel and accommodation arrangements). The Non-local Student Services Team under the Student Affairs Office will be providing you with support on issues which you need to know or follow when entering Hong Kong. You may contact the Team by phone: (852) 2766 5408 or by email: email@example.com.
2. Subject registration
Subject teachers will provide LTA information about the subjects e.g., the mode of delivery, whether the subjects have essential learning and teaching activities (e.g. practicum, placement) that require mandatory f2f participation, and the assessment arrangements to be adopted. The Academic Registry will upload the information here on 17 June 2022. Students must attend to the subject registration information therein carefully and contact the subject teachers concerned for enquiries, if any.
For students who will be unable to return to Hong Kong, you are advised to consult your academic advisor and subject offering department before subject registration if you wish to register for subjects with essential f2f activities. Students are advised in advance not to register for subjects with essential f2f activities if alternative arrangements to fully achieve the learning outcomes cannot be made.
3. Assessment arrangements
Subject assessment can take the form of on-campus invigilated examination, online invigilated examination, take-home examination or continuous assessment etc. Students are advised to check the exact mode of assessment for individual subjects from the web link in point 2 above for making necessary arrangements, e.g. making travel arrangements back to Hong Kong for on-campus examinations and making ready the requisite devices (e.g. notebook, camera and other necessary electronic devices) for online invigilated examinations. Students should bear in mind that in case the epidemic situation worsens significantly, on-campus examinations may be replaced by alternative assessment formats.
Students should also take note that f2f activities may be reviewed with reference to the latest health and travel advice as issued by the HKSAR Government if the COVID-19 epidemic situation worsens significantly.
