The Professional Practice and Assessment Centre at APSS will make practice research a nexus connecting practice, teaching, and research in the coming year. Three seminars/workshops on practice research will be scheduled between December 2015 and January 2016 for colleagues to germinate and develop ideas of practice research in applied social sciences. Dr. HO Kwok Leung will be the facilitator of the seminars/workshops.

1. Practice Research as an Emerging Research Agenda in Social Work

This seminar will focus on exploring what practice research is, how it is different from traditional research, and why it has become an important vehicle for knowledge development in social work.

1. Practicing ‘Practice Research’ in Social Work

This seminar will survey the range of the more common methods/methodologies in practice research in social work. This serves to promote new possibilities for colleagues to engage in practice research.

1. Practice Research in Reality: A Case Study
Date: January 22, 2016
Time: 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm
Venue: TBC

This workshop will focus on our master students and see if participants can turn the work of their students into small pieces of practice research. It also aims to illustrate what practice research could be with case study materials.
