香港人口老齡化趨勢與家庭結構變化

至2038年,將近1/3的香港人口將為65歲或以上長者。與此同時,隨著出生率的下降,香港家庭結構變化加劇。根據政府的數據統計,目前在香港,夫婦平均子女數量大約為1.2至1.3位,平均家庭人數約為2.7人。這意味著更多的長者獨自生活或與成年子女和孫兒的代際接觸減少,因此長者往往缺乏祖父母經驗或練習祖父母角色的機會。

家庭代際關係的重要性

研究表明,父母與成年子女之間的關係越好,自我形象越高,對生活的滿意度也越高,這說明良好的代際關係可以促進“積極健康樂頤年”。

同時,代際關係亦都影響長者家庭的照顧安排。在長者照顧責任上,兩代人的價值共識較低 ,反映了一定程度的代際差異。當兩代人之間的情感親密程度下降,缺乏在價值和態度上的共識時,容易引起代際矛盾,從而不利於長者身心健康,亦不利於和諧家庭及社會的建設。
