Recognition and Acclamation - Distinguished Accomplishments of APSS Staff Member
Launched in 2021, the Faculty Awards for Outstanding Achievement in Knowledge Transfer (KT) recognises the distinguished accomplishments and contributions of staff members. This year, the awardees are:
1 Substantive post as of 24 May 2021
2 Former Associate Professor of RS (until Jul 2021)
3 Reader in Occupational Therapy, Department of Health Sciences, Brunel University London (from Aug 2021)
In response to the growing adolescent developmental issues, Prof. Daniel SHEK and his team have created, tested, and implemented a series of P.A.T.H.S. projects since 2005. Their KT impact case, Promotion of Adolescent Psychological Well-Being in Different Chinese Societies: The Project P.A.T.H.S. in Hong Kong and Mainland China has received the Faculty Award for Outstanding Achievement in KT (Society & Team).
Prof. SHEK said, “We are grateful to the Faculty for the acknowledgement and recognition of our works. The award recognises the team’s contributions in preventing youth problems and promoting psychological well-being of students.”
Prof. Eric CHUI, Head of APSS, congratulated all members of the team and thanked the support of the Faculty. “Winning this award affirms the strength of our outstanding staff, and we are indeed very proud of their accomplishment. Their work serves as an exemplary example of applied research that makes a difference,” Prof. CHUI said.
About the Project P.A.T.H.S.
With the financial support of the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, the Project P.A.T.H.S. (Positive Adolescent Training through Holistic Social Programmes) was implemented in 2005-2019. The Project attempts to promote holistic development of students in Hong Kong. Colleagues in five universities in Hong Kong participated in the project, with PolyU as the lead institution. Because of its overwhelming success, the project was transplanted in other societies outside Hong Kong, including the Tin Ka Ping Project in mainland China. The Project P.A.T.H.S. was rated as “world leading” (4*) in the Research Assessment Exercise 2020.
