This programme is offered within the Postgraduate Scheme in Applied Science.

Programme Aims

We teach you:

• Up-to-date theoretical and practical knowledge in statistics, operations research and scientific computing relevant to decision making and practical problem-solving in engineering, finance and management;
• Essential mathematical modelling as well as computational techniques, developing generic skills required for solving real-life problems.

• Our programme provides graduate level subjects with emphasis on advanced methodologies and techniques of mathematical modelling useful to engineers, scientists, technologists and managers.
• Our particular focus is on applications as well as the use of computer packages to solve practical problems.

Structure
You can select from a wide range of subjects offered under various Postgraduate Schemes. In general, each subject requires attendance of one evening a week for a 14-week semester.

For MSc
You need to complete 4 Core Subjects (including the compulsory subject: Mathematical Modelling for Science & Technology), 4 other subjects (Core or Electives) and a Dissertation (or 3 additional Core Subjects).
Dissertation is optional. However, you are encouraged to select a topic relevant to your professional and personal interest.

For PgD
You need to complete 4 Core Subjects and 3 other subjects (Core or Electives).

Entrance Requirements

• Bachelor's degree with honours in engineering, computer science, basic science, or equivalent.
