Kowloon Investment Scholarship

 

 

 

The Kowloon Investment Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as the Donor) will donate 10 scholarships totalling $100,000 to The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (hereinafter referred to as PolyU) annually for 5 consecutive years commencing the academic year 2004/05 under the following regulations and administrative procedures:-

 

A)   Regulations

 

1.    Each award shall be known as “Kowloon Investment Scholarship”.

 

2.      The scholarships shall be awarded to full-time/part-time students from the programme “Master of Science /PgD in Applied Mathematics for Science and Technology” offered by the Department of Applied Mathematics. Both local and non-local students are eligible. However, the number of scholarships awarded to non-local students should not exceed 40% of the total number of scholarships awarded in the awarding exercise of the “Kowloon Investment Scholarship” each year.

 

3.      The value of each scholarship is HK$10,000.

      

4.    The tenure of each scholarship shall be for one year only.

 

5.   The award of the scholarships is based on academic merit.

 

 

B)   Administrative Procedures

 

1.        The awardees will be selected by the Head of Department of Applied Mathematics in consultation with the Programme Leader of Master of Science /PgD in Applied Mathematics for Science and Technology and relevant staff of the Department after the grades of 2nd semester are finalized each year. The scholarships not awarded to students shall be brought forward to the awarding exercise of the “Kowloon Investment Scholarship” of the following academic year.

 

2.      The Donor will send a cheque, made payable to "The Hong Kong Polytechnic University", to Student Affairs Office (SAO) in October of 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008. The money shall be deposited into a scholarship account of PolyU.

 

3.    Payment will be released to the awardees upon the Head’s confirmation on the list of awardees.

 

These regulations and administrative procedures may be revised subject to mutual agreement between the Donor and PolyU.
